(Almost) a Caravaner.

The nature is racing on full speed and we are trying to keep on track in our garden, therefore it's been a while since I said anything about our caravan. The changes there have been painfully slow and have felt like not worth an update but as usually the final bits went exceedingly fast and then there was no time for it. Not that it is a finished project, not at all! But at least things are starting to look more hopeful!

I have spent a good amount of hours taping and painting the caravan so instead of wooden brown it now looks like this:

The cabinet doors are still to be attached, the beds still to be built, but it is a lot lighter, brighter and feels higher than before so I am happy even if the paint job (three layers of it) is not perfect. Still, if you ask what was the most time-consuming part I'll say - taping!! Boring, but necessary for a better outcome.

But the biggest change in our wheeled home is not the pretty interior - it is the floor. M has been doing so much work on it! It is still covered in paper as we move inside in our outer footwear, but it is changed inside out. We decided from the start that as N spends a lot of time on the floor we need to install floor heating (we have gas radiators, but the floors would in worst cases still be freezing). So we watched a TON of YouTube videos of caravaners and floor heating systems, M did some /a lot of!/ research and we chose Uponor mats, mostly because they were available on demand, the other few available would have had to be ordered.
At first M measured the floor loosely and decided upon 6m2 of flooring so that some parts of the floor would be left without. It was a great surprise when during the installation it appeared he needed to fill every nook and cranny as we had too MUCH of the mat! And of course you cannot cut it in half. So now we even have it under the beds which, considering Estonian summers, for me - a lover of warmth - is not at all a bad news.

Placing the mat.
Oops..too much mat, too little room!
Let's make some more room under the bed!
The final floor./

But one day it was May and M would soon have to return to work. So we decided to move the still half-finished caravan to the site and finish it there.
We borrowed my friend's car as mine is out of order and M's does not have a hook, packed N (so sorry for the little guy! He has been driving hours on daily bases for a few weeks now.) and here it is!

To add to the feeling of change, a few minutes after we got to the site a BMW (of course!) crashed about 40m from our garden next to the stadium. You can see people on the very background, that's that. It came with a great speed and must have lost control as it had been on the opposite side of the road before taking down 20m of small trees and stopped on its roof by a bigger one. Luckily nobody was harmed and we can only hope for three more youngsters to have a bit more brains in the future!

The next day we started putting together the tent in the front. Oh wow, was that a puzzle! I thought we'll never finish, but with some luck I hope we got it right! And when the few missing parts will arrive in the post we can attach it to the caravan instead of some planks :D But this will be our living room for the summer!

There is so much more to do there, but the work continues and as summer comes closer we want to move in already! Hopefully we will be able to continue work this weekend!
