Quarantine. Progress.
One day after Estonia declared emergency situation because of COVID-19 M., his two relatives and a friend went to the house to dig out soil from the "mushroom-room". As we practically cannot do anything inside before it is gone we need to get it done as quick as possible. I was a bit worried because of the human contact (worrier, I am), but as Estonian men probably keep some distance most of the time anyway then fine.
There had been much discussion on how to do it as carrying that much soil out is quite a bit of work. Luckily we are not the only ones renovating an old house so our good friends from @twodothings suggested just throwing it straight out of the window and then taking care of the piles later. Ingenious!
So what had first seemed like weeks of work (at least for me) turned out to be more like breeze to four strong guys and after a decent day of work the first room was empty! Jeei!
And with this soil some of the bigger worry for our home was also gone. Up to that moment nothing had moved and I felt like it never would (M. probably did, too, but did not tell). Now at least there was a change. The house was more "ours".
And then suddenly there was so much time..!
You'd think that as a (so-and-so) stay-at-home mum and a (temporarily) stay-at-home dad we'd have loads anyway, but actually I have been working/driving quite a lot (premiere is past, but one exhibition still to be opened) and M. went to school and this new small person is such time consumer that I cannot even express that well enough..
But now school was cancelled, exhibition opening postponed and M who was supposed to go back to work on April the 1st would be home at least another week.
This means M. has been to the house a lot more these days to dig out soil from the other room, pulling down the layers on the walls and carrying them out while I have been home trying to keep up the spirits with painting caravan doors (it takes a looong time if you only do it during N's naps) and ordering fabrics online for some interior details.
And as of this Monday M. finally is finished and the two guys dealing with the mushroom are IN and the house is already hovering in the air. And a huge bite from our renovation capital is gone :O
But is is being done finally! And after that, hopefully, we will be able to do something inside!
This short clip of him firing the room is especially pleasing. You need to do that to destroy any remains of the mycelium in the soil.
They also levelled up the foundation and then sprayed it with the repellent. Not exactly sure what it was, but it smelled of linseed oil and was supposedly all natural.

Last but not least - we finally have a small space in the house me and N. can stay so we can go as well! Considering the situation AND the upcoming spring this is such a relief. In this room we are more or less warm and cosy for a day at the country.
