Babies Means Baby Steps.
As probably every other first time parent before us we had no idea of how much less time we would be having for ourselves and our plans. So if renovating would be a time-consuming affair anyway it now takes probably ten times more time that it would otherwise. Mostly because on most days we can do nothing at all or very little especially as one of us (me) had a premiere last week and the other (M) went back to school. And N was ill.
But we CAN make baby steps!

After we brought our 30-year-old caravan - Lord Münsterland 545 Luxus (such a deluxe name!) - home and had a longer and closer look there appeared to be some details we had not at first recognised - of course! The first and most prominent issue seemed to be the mould in the ceiling and surrounding some other areas. As most of it was found in N's future room it was an especially big issue.
M discovered that one of our roof windows was leaking and after taking out the window it appeared that the wooden carcass around it was soaking wet, causing mould to form in places that had access to air - around the window and around the lamp. Luckily there was no mould inside the carcass.
He then pulled down the ceiling - it was quite difficult to do as it seemed to be glued to the carcass - leaving two thin beams and a thin metal sheet and the whole thing has been drying there for some time now.
There is also some mould around one lower window which appears to be broken - how on earth we did not notice that while buying?! Maybe because the inner thermo curtain was drawn and the crack taped. Under that curtain is also where the mould resides as there has been no air movement. M tried to take down the upper shelves for easier access to remove it but after about an hour of removing tens of screws the shelf did not budge. German quality that is! We'll try to manage without removing it.
At the same time I spent time unscrewing all the cupboard doors to paint them white which will be our main interior colour to make it feel lighter higher and hopefully more spacious. Most of the doors broke from the seams and need to be reglued, but this is not a biggie (last famous words).
We are planning to install floor heating as N is still spending most of his time on the floor and also warmth has a big importance in my personal preferences. Especially if the summer should be cold and rainy.
So all in all we have not managed a lot but are slowly progressing towards our life in the orchard.
In conclusion I'll add a few photos (author: Siim Vahur) of my last weeks premiere. If you like detective stories, playfulness and solving puzzles this should be for you.
